The Delta 72 broke up years ago. Gregg Foreman, the frontman of the band, joined the Dirty Delta Blues band and toured with Cat Power for the latter half of her “The Greatest” tour. I enjoyed D72’s manic stage performance at MACROCK ‘99, but their albums always seemed unfinished, like a framework of something greater. Foreman seems at home performing with Marshall:

The Pipettes

I’m considering producing a camp boy band called The Florence Flasks.

Justice, A Tribute to the Beer Hunter

Alright, I’m pretty sure that I’m about 6 months too late on this one, since this video has about 2 million views on YouTube, a conspicuous spot on the MTV site (canceling cable is the first step towards a massive collection of Adult Contemporary records, right?) But, here we go.

Justice is French house duo with bizarre Christian overtones (I could look deeper but I’m serious lazy) and an apparent innocent fondness for Michael Jackson. I’ve noticed that Parisians embrace our cast-away American celebrities, occasionally with disturbing prescience. That aside, this song is guiltily catchy, with a (sampled) flat-footed vocalist, and wrought production that comes off sounding natural. Listen closely, and you’ll find some Michael Jackson lyric-dropping, which also sounds too natural to be feigned. I mean, who would seriously reference “Black or White”?
